Experimenting body, mind, & soul through a small shelter

1  /   7 /   2016

This project aims to explore the relationships between human body and designed form and to further construct a habitable structure of how we can further improve it. We were to build a 1:1 scale portable shelter in a group of 2/3. We set up out tent at Janda Baik, Pahang and had an overnight stay there and to test if whether the structure stands.

.

The size recommends its constraints to be little as to accommodate 3 people to stay in the night. The understanding of basic human proportions to have them to sit, and lie down was the main aim to be studied, adapt and to be an emphasis in the shelter. This is as so when the mind is at peace when the body attains less work, the less work is simply reflected in doing nothing. This ergonomics is important to understand how the space can be extended to fullfill spatial requirement in space to extend throughout.

the emphasis on human comfort in seating and lying down is achieved with the covered floors, breathable interior with the mesh textures and the operable panels contributes to the idea of a condusive space to stay in. The translucent transparency allows light to enter without the compromise of heat to the interior. to add, the modular spacing is enable to be pulled and extend the space making it to be a social gathering point when need too, and can be enclosed when time is to sleep.
